The founder and
chairman of Moncrief Oil International (“MOIL”), Richard W. Moncrief, is a Petroleum Engineering graduate of the
University of Texas, at Austin. In addition to family philanthropic and civic activity, Mr. Moncrief serves on the Development
Board of the University of Texas and is the current Chairman of the ALL AMERICAN WILDCATTERS, a 100 member organization of
American oil and gas explorationists and producers.
Mr. Moncrief's grandfather,
W.A. (Monty) Moncrief founded the Moncrief family oil and gas business in 1935 which remains, today, one of the
nation’s most successful independent, privately owned oil and gas producers, working regularly with all of the major
oil producers in the United States.
In the late 1930’s, Monty
Moncrief was responsible for the discovery of the northern portion of the giant East Texas Oil Field. This field was instrumental
in establishing the presence of large hydrocarbon reserves in the United States and will have an ultimate total recovery of
six billion barrels.
For the past 70+ years, as leading oil and gas explorers and producers,
the Moncrief family has discovered or played a prominent role in the development of numerous major oil fields in
Texas, Louisiana, Alaska, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Utah, California, Florida, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, Alabama,
and Mississippi.
